Privacy Policy

What this covers

This policy explains what Homeworkify collects, why, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it. It applies to homeworkifyeu.com and to the Homeworkify mobile apps.

Homeworkify is used by school students, including children. Where this policy says something is not done, it is not done for anyone.

What we collect

Your account: email address, and a display name if you give one. If you sign in with Google we store the identifier Google gives us, never your Google password. If you set a password with us, we store a one-way hash of it and cannot read it back.

Your study profile: the level you are at and the examination board you follow. These change how explanations are written, which is the only reason we ask.

Your work: the questions you ask, the working you submit to be checked, the code you paste, and the answers produced. Your history is shown back to you and is what makes revision return concepts you got wrong.

What you upload: a photograph of a problem, or course material you add yourself. Course material is stored as text and is private to your account.

Usage counts, so the daily free limit can be applied, and a subscription record if you pay.

We do not collect your location, your contacts, your device identifiers for advertising, or anything from other apps.

Who else sees it

Anthropic, to generate explanations. Your question and your level and board are sent; your email and name are not. Anthropic does not use this to train its models.

AI33 Pro (OpenSpeaker), to turn an AI Teacher lesson script into speech. Only the lesson text is sent, and lesson text is written by the model rather than by you.

Google Cloud Vision, only when you upload a photograph, to read the text in it.

Stripe and PayPal, only if you subscribe, to take the payment. We never see or store your card number.

Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.

An email provider, to send you a password reset or a confirmation link.

That is the whole list. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Advertising

Where advertising is shown, it is never shown to anyone below sixth form, never to a paying subscriber, and never to an account whose level we do not know. An unknown age is treated as a child.

No advertising appears on an answer, a lesson, or the code playground.

Children

Students under 13 (under 16 in parts of the EU) should use Homeworkify with a parent or guardian's permission. A parent or guardian may ask us for a copy of their child's data, or ask us to delete it, using the address below.

We do not knowingly collect more from a child than from anyone else, because we collect the same small set from everyone.

How long we keep it

Your account and your work are kept while your account exists. Delete the account and both go with it, including uploaded course material and any photographs.

Generated study maps and lessons are not personal data -- they are written for a subject, not for a person, and are shared by everyone studying it. Those remain.

Sign-in sessions expire on their own. A password reset link expires in 30 minutes and works once.

Your rights

You can see your data (it is on your account and history pages), correct it, export it, or have it deleted. If you are in the EU or the UK you have these rights under the GDPR, and we apply them to everyone regardless of where they are.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed, never stored as text. Sign-in tokens are held in a cookie the browser will not hand to scripts, and a reused token invalidates every session on that account.

No system is perfect. If we ever find that your data has been exposed, we will tell you.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who sees it, we will say so on this page and date it. Continuing to use Homeworkify after that means you accept the change.
